Passive design building is a building with passive energy saving technology. The active design always ignore the relationship between indoor space and natural phase, using air conditioning equipment to create a pleasant environment. However, passive design makes full use of existing natural conditions, so that the construction maximum to adapt to the surrounding environment.
Guangzhou meteorological monitoring center located in Panyu Distric in Guangzhou, with an area of 54 thousand square meters planning, construction area of 9597.7 square meters, greening rate of 67%. Building has green roofs and green roof accounted for 49% of the total green area. The green roofs played the role of thermal insulation and regulating the outdoor thermal environment. Green roofs not only to make the roof heat insulation, but also achieve the role of ecological energy saving.

The west side of the building is covered by the hillside that can avoid the building energy consumption caused by the extra sunshine. The outer wall is made of aerated concrete block and the window designed with Low-E coating. These strategies can effectively reduce the outdoor temperature and the heat island effect. The project has rainwater collection system, and the rainwater will be used for irrigation. The irrigation has two independent systems, rainwater one and tap water one. If the amount of rainwater is not enough, tap water system can supply. Using sprinkler irrigation because it has high efficiency and save water.
